Key Mechanical Company Career Opportunities |
Opportunity Snapshot
We are hiring today with an eye on tomorrow, and this newly created role offers you the opportunity to learn from an expert with deep experience, expand your leadership skills, and build a promising future with Key Mechanical. While you will start by learning our processes and systems hands-on, once you are up to speed you will be able to make an impact by recommending process improvements and best practices. As a smaller company we enjoy a strong, tight-knit family feeling, and our people are energized about our business. We're looking for a team player who is excited about growing with us.
Managing a team of four, you will oversee just about all aspects of day-to-day accounting operations, including monthly close, preparation of monthly financials, and more. To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have a bachelor's degree in Accounting and significant accounting experience, including a background in the construction industry. You will need to be open to learning our way of doing business but also bring the initiative to engage in constructive dialog regarding how we can make a good thing even better. Familiarity with service/construction industry software is a strong plus (we use SAM Pro by Data-Basics).
Key Mechanical designs, installs, and maintains refrigeration and air conditioning systems for the food industry and building owners to keep product cold and tenants comfortable so our clients realize higher margins, greater efficiency, and more productivity. We have established a reputation for quality and service, as demonstrated by the fact that the majority of our growth is driven by word-of-mouth referrals.
PLEASE NOTE: All resumes must be submitted via this system for consideration. Do not contact Key Mechanical directly or come to our offices to submit a resume. Doing so will negatively impact your status as a potential candidate for this position. Thank you.
What Else You'll Bring to the Table
While supervisory/managerial experience is not required, this is a great opportunity for an Accounting Supervisor or Manager to step their career up a notch. In addition to the qualifications detailed above, you'll need:
Preferred but not required:
You also will need to be willing and able to travel twice a month to satellite offices in Portland, OR and Livermore, CA. Typically these trips will be overnight, but occasionally they may involve two nights.
What's in It for You
Career development -- we are taking a proactive approach to succession planning, and our goal is to help you develop both your technical skills and your leadership abilities so that you can grow as our company does. In addition to working with and learning from our Controller, who has solid experience in our industry and with Key Mechanical, you will gain direct exposure to all aspects of our accounting processes. You also will practice your leadership skills as you provide guidance to people here in Kent as well as in our satellite offices.
High impact -- you'll find that our accounting function is stable and well set up; at the same time, once you have learned our processes, we'll look to you to demonstrate initiative in identifying opportunities to improve as well as in driving positive change.
Great work environment -- the atmosphere here is casual and easy-going but also results oriented. You'll find that everyone at Key Mechanical shares two traits: a strong sense of accountability and a deep, shared commitment to the company's success.
Excellent compensation -- in addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package
More About Your Role
If you're a good fit for this position, you already know most of what this job entails. However, to be sure we're providing a complete picture, here are some details.
In the Kent headquarters you will supervise Accounting Clerks in AP, AR, and Payroll, as well as a PO Processor. In the Portland and Livermore offices you'll oversee AP and Billing Clerks, and in all offices you'll interact with people outside of Accounting, such as Office Managers and Billing Clerks in the Service Department. The teams in the satellite offices handle billing and AP entry into our system, although we do most of the accounting here in Kent.
We see this as a "player/coach" role, and you'll start off learning our service billing processes -- the most complicated aspect of our accounting function. Following that you'll rotate through all areas. In this way you will become intimately familiar with the areas you'll supervise; in addition, everyone at Key Mechanics pitches in to help out -- we're more focused on success in the business than on hierarchy and titles.
Once you are fully trained, your activities will include:
In addition you will travel to each satellite office once a month to review financial procedures and reporting with branch managers. On the whole these offices run well, but your regular presence will ensure we have strong lines of communication.
Keys to Success
To excel in this role you will round out your technical abilities with solid people skills. In order to be effective with your staff you will need to respect their experience and earn their confidence. You'll need to demonstrate integrity and a firm but compassionate approach. In addition, in order to be an outstanding Senior Implementer, you will:
If this sounds like the right mix of challenge and opportunity for you, and you meet the minimum qualifications, we want to hear from you!
